GPA stands for Grade Point Average. U.S. colleges commonly use GPA as one way of assessing academic performance.

›What is an Unweighted GPA?

An unweighted GPA measures grades on a standard scale without giving additional points for harder subjects.

›What is a Weighted GPA?

A weighted GPA may give additional value to more academically challenging subjects.

›What is a Core-Subject GPA?

A Core-Subject GPA only uses selected academic subjects rather than every subject on a student's transcript. For student-athletes, this can be particularly important because NCAA academic calculations may only consider approved academic coursework. This is a separate calculation from an overall academic GPA, not just the same number with fewer subjects.

A core subject is an academic subject that meets the relevant academic requirements used within the calculator. Platform Sports' Core Subject List is used to classify subjects.
